About the Together bursary scheme

In 2001, our union introduced a bursary scheme for senior high school students.  

Known as the Patricia Cousar Memorial Bursary, eligibility is open to dependents of financial Together members who are entering years 11 and 12 or equivalent.

The bursary is used to make a small contribution to the costs of education for these students. The bursary is a small reflection of the principles union members believe - that membership is not only about your rights at work.

All members who have eligible student dependents are encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity.

Altogether, 22 bursaries are awarded to students from all regions of Queensland. The winners from each region are drawn randomly, and each winner receives a $300 bursary. 

How to nominate for the bursary scheme

To nominate, please fill in the form before 12th December 2025.

Please note the below eligibility requirements:

Eligibility: 

• You are a financial Together member with a dependent who is in year 11, year 12 or equivalent in 2026
• The student you are nominating has not previously been a recipient of a Together bursary

Nominations for the 2026 Bursary are now open and successful members will be notified in January 2026.
